How Jungian Psychology and Lineage Patterns Shape the Way I Work With Coaching Clients

A Note Before You Read

This post is intended to be listened to, as the full experience lives in the audio recording. If you have 17 minutes, listen to the recording on Substack. For those who prefer to read, the overview below includes everything from the recording.

The Archetypal Family Field: A High-Level Overview

Integration #4 introduces a coaching modality I have been training in called the Archetypal Family Field, or AFF. It is rooted in Jungian psychology, Eastern philosophy, and neuroscience. It is now part of how I work with coaching clients.

If you listened to Integration #3, you already know my Whole Being methodology: working with the body, the energy, and the soul. AFF is an addition to that. It goes deeper. (If you want to learn more about my foundational methodology give #3 a listen).

The AFF modality is built around the concept of archetypes: the mother, the father, the child, the magical child, and others. The idea, rooted in Jungian psychology, is that we are unconsciously living out experiences from earlier in life through these archetypal patterns. We are not doing it consciously. It is running in the background, shaping how we move through the world.

Why Standard Coaching Only Gets You So Far

Most coaching works at the level of goals, beliefs, and mindset. You identify what is blocking you, you work through where that belief came from, you set new goals and start moving toward them. That is real, valuable work. And it works.

But the root of what is driving your patterns sits deeper than that. To use a concrete example: say you want to make more money. You go to a coach. You work through the beliefs you have around money, where they came from, why you feel like it is not available to you. You set goals. Maybe you get a new certification, start networking, put yourself out there with more confidence. And that will move you forward.

What AFF addresses is the layer underneath all of that. The root cause that is driving the pattern in the first place, sitting in the subconscious, well beneath the level of goals and mindset work. That is not a criticism of standard coaching. Standard coaching is incredible. It is a different thing than what I do.

The AFF Process

The process works in layers. A client connects with the energy at the root of what they are working on. From there, they identify the experiences in their own life that shaped it. Then comes the layer that makes this modality different: they connect with the lineage of that energy. The pattern did not start with them. It was inherited from a caretaker, who inherited it from theirs, running back through the line.

What the process allows you to do is see that inherited experience for what it is. An experience. Not a truth. Not a definition of who you are or what is available to you. Once the emotional charge is removed from it, it becomes something you can hold with neutrality rather than something that is quietly running your reality.

And then what opens up is access to your actual essence. If the example is money, what becomes available is the recognition that you are an abundant being, worthy of everything you are working toward, capable of having it. That is not an affirmation layered on top of an unresolved pattern. That is what is left when the pattern no longer has a charge.

As in any coaching call, you still set goals and take inspired action. Using the original example about money, you still go get the certification, start the business, put yourself out there. But the subconscious root driving the pattern has been addressed, not just left to surface another time in your life.

What I Experienced as a Client

I do not use anything with clients that I have not experienced myself. I have been working with a coach using this modality, and I mean this: I have not had more profound realizations about myself and my life in any other coaching container.

I had a session with my coach that was focused on overwhelm. I am running a business, working a full-time job, juggling A LOT. My nervous system was stretched to its limit. I felt like I was grazing the surface of everything rather than fully showing up for any of it.

What I came to understand in that session was that my father carried the same energy. He was a single parent raising two kids, working full time, going to school full time, working toward his master’s degree, and not always having enough money for food. The same overwhelm feeling with a different experience was playing out for me.

And it did not start with him. It ran through his father before him, and his before that.

When I saw my father as a person, an equal human being doing the best he could with what he had, passing down something he also inherited, something in me shifted. I started crying. There was this intense connection with my soul that I had not felt before in that context around overwhelm. A calm underneath it that said: this does not have to be the biggest thing in the room. There is nothing wrong with this experience. There is nothing wrong with what my parents went through. They were people, just like me, doing the best they could.

My reality does not have to be driven by that lineage. It can be part of my experience without being the force running it.

A Few Important Notes

AFF is available exclusively within coaching containers. It is not part of a standalone astrology reading. If you are working with me in a coaching relationship, astrology is always woven into that work. But AFF lives inside the coaching, not outside of it.

One more important disclaimer: Carl Jung was a psychotherapist, and his work is the root of this modality. I am not a therapist. Coaching and therapy are different practices. If you are looking for therapy or psychotherapy, I am not the right fit. If you are looking for astrology, coaching, or both, that is exactly what I do.
